The journey began over three decades ago when Jack Fitzgerald first established his electrical enterprise on Lower Shannon Street. From humble origins, focusing primarily on heating solutions, Jack Fitzgerald Electrical has evolved into the largest electrical emporium in Limerick City. Today, it stands as the go-to destination for a comprehensive array of electrical products, boasting an extensive inventory capable of meeting the diverse needs of its cherished customers.
Key Challenge
The client faced a challenge in managing and scheduling deliveries through the POS interface. The need was to use a single front-end system to book various types of orders, such as cash on delivery or delivery through courier services, and to manage scheduling based on promised dates. The absence of this feature posed a significant operational hurdle.
Our Solution
We developed a feature to address the challenge of booking cash on delivery orders through the POS interface. Here's how it works:
Cart Management
The cashier adds items to the cart just like a typical POS order.
Payment Flexibility
At the checkout screen, the cashier can select the "Pay Later" option, which generates a sales invoice that can be handed to the customer at the counter.
Delivery Options
The system allows the cashier to specify when the customer wants to receive the items and whether the items will be delivered locally or via a courier service. Additionally, cashiers have the facility to add notes for the delivery team as well as for the customer.
Backend Coordination
Once the order is booked, the delivery team can access the order details, including items and promised delivery dates. The invoice remains outstanding until payment is received from the customer.
Impact
This solution streamlines the process of handling COD orders, ensuring smooth operations and improved customer service. The seamless coordination between front-end and back-end operations leads to better customer satisfaction, reduced processing times, and a more efficient order management system.
