One of our clients, Parnells, is the leading seller and manufacturer of tyres, castors, tracks, hangers, and more in Ireland and across Europe. For many years, we have developed and maintained a robust and highly efficient ERP system for them. Processing Manufacturing Orders Using Barcodes
Parnells approached us with a specific request. They wanted to streamline their manufacturing order process by utilising barcode scanners or mobile devices, similar to how Odoo's Barcode App manages delivery orders, receipts, and return orders.
In standard Odoo, the ability to process manufacturing orders through the Barcode App is not available. However, Parnells wanted this functionality to speed up operations, reduce time, and lower costs.
Numla’s Customised Solution
After understanding and analysing Parnells' requirements, Numla proposed a tailored solution that allowed manufacturing orders to be processed via Odoo’s enterprise Barcode App. This feature, which was not available in the default system, was custom-designed for their operations.
We integrated the manufacturing order process with the Odoo Enterprise Barcode App and made the solution fully configurable with the Manufacturing Operation Type. This gave Parnells the flexibility to customise it to their specific business needs.
Now, Parnells can efficiently manage manufacturing orders using the Barcode App. They can:
- Process manufacturing orders by scanning products
- Add new products to manufacturing orders (MOs) via the Barcode App
- View detailed manufacturing order information directly on the barcode screen
- Download various MO-related reports in PDF or ZPL formats
- Cancel and validate MOs directly through the Barcode App
All manufacturing orders are displayed in the Barcode App’s manufacturing section, with filtering options available to refine the search.
Results and Impact
The solution was deployed successfully, and Parnells tested it in real business operations. The solution works seamlessly, and they are happy with it. The new process is aimed at significantly reducing the time and costs associated with manufacturing operations.
