Managing online orders across multiple marketplaces can quickly become complex. For Parnells, a leading European retailer, cancelling orders meant extra effort, duplicate work, and the risk of errors. Our team delivered a seamless solution by enabling direct order cancellations in Channel Engine from Odoo, saving time and improving efficiency.

Customer Background

Parnells is a major seller across Europe, dealing in tyres, car parts, and many other products. As a trusted online retailer, they rely on our Channel Engine app to streamline marketplace operations. We have been working with them for years, providing customisations and ongoing support to keep their systems scalable and reliable.

The Challenge

When orders had to be cancelled, Parnells’ team faced a time-consuming process. Orders needed to be cancelled in Odoo, then again in Channel Engine. This duplication not only wasted time but also increased the risk of mismatched data and operational errors. The client wanted a way to manage cancellations in one place without switching platforms.

The Solution

To address this, our team developed a new feature in the Channel Engine app — Cancel Order in Channel Engine directly from Odoo.

We worked closely with Parnells, gathering requirements, analysing APIs, and designing a smooth process. Once approved, the feature was implemented and made available within their Odoo system.

Now, when an order is cancelled in Odoo, users can also cancel it directly in Channel Engine from Odoo itself, without switching platforms. This eliminates duplicate effort and saves valuable time.

Now, when an order is cancelled in Odoo, the system automatically allows users to:

  • Trigger the cancellation in Channel Engine directly from Odoo.
  • Provide cancellation reasons and comments through a simple wizard.
  • Get instant confirmation of successful cancellations.

If the cancellation is successful, the “Cancel CE Order” button disappears, and a status field, “Cancelled in CE?”, under the Channel Engine tab clearly indicates whether the order was cancelled in Channel Engine.

Users can also easily identify and manage cancelled orders through the Sales Order list view, ensuring better visibility and tracking.

In case of errors (e.g., order already cancelled or invalid order data), the system shows clear error messages so issues can be resolved quickly.

The Impact

With this new functionality, Parnells can now:

  • Eliminate duplicate work by cancelling orders once instead of twice.
  • Save time in daily operations.
  • Reduce the risk of errors between Odoo and Channel Engine.
  • Provide smoother customer service thanks to faster and more accurate cancellations.

This improvement has made their order management process more efficient, critical for a high-volume business operating across Europe.
