How Same Routing Works for Kit Components
In Odoo Manufacturing, you may want to use kit Bills of Materials (BoMs) within manufactured product BoMs to simplify the component list. In some cases, both the finished product and its kit components follow the same routing. To ensure proper component consumption, you must configure routing correctly.

Step 1: Create a BoM for the Finished Product
To begin, create a manufactured BoM for the finished product that includes a kit component. Assign a routing, such as Assemble Furniture, to this BoM.
Step 2: Create a Kit BoM for the Kit Component
Next, define the BoM for the kit component. Ensure that the routing assigned to this BoM matches the one set for the finished product.
Note: When defining the kit BoM, you can specify which operations consume the kit components directly in this BoM.
Step 3: Process the Manufacturing Order
Once the manufacturing order is created, the kit component will automatically split into its individual parts. Because both the finished product and kit component share the same routing, Odoo generates work orders accordingly.
What Happens in Odoo?
- The system creates two work orders based on the Assemble Furniture routing.
- The kit components are consumed according to the operations defined in the kit BoM.
- The finished product is manufactured seamlessly with the correct component consumption.
